Akademichesky is an administrative district located in South-Western Administrative Okrug of Moscow, Russia. With estimated population of 109,000 as of 2017, it contains a number of scientific organizations and research institutions, apartment buildings, underground parking lots, kindergartens, secondary schools and a developed network of trade points and social services.
One of the main attractive qualities of this district is its high level of security, thanks to a range of modern and smart security solutions made by Garant CJSC Management Company, which includes the updated surveillance system of Dahua Technology.
Challenges
Committed to providing maximum security to residents, Garant CJSC has focused on creating a comfortable and safe living environment from its first days of settlement in the Akademichesky area, and for this purpose, a security system has been operating in the Akademichesky microdistrict since 2009.
Moreover, as the area develops, Akademichesky is expecting to accommodate about 325,000 people in the near future. To further ensure the safety of residents living in the area and the security of public properties in the neighborhoods, it was necessary to replace the old existing surveillance equipment with a modern flexible system that could adapt to criminal changes and at the same time could respond quickly to the residents when an accident happens.
To help Garant CJSC achieve their tasks, which include ensuring the safety of the residents, keeping the property of the apartment owners safe, as well as encouraging discipline amongst the builders and guests in the area, the project should be able to provide: the possibility of increasing the system/number of cameras; multiple user access to a single video camera; integration with existing LAN; built-in intelligence; high resolution and high image quality; as well as overall system reliability against low temperatures (-40C). It required a scalable system with modern video technologies, which were accomplished by Dahua products and solutions.
Solution
At the end of 2017, the Akademichesky started to employ security equipment and solutions from Dahua Technology. At present, the whole area is guarded by more than a thousand of Dahua cameras that include: speed dome PTZ cameras located outside the housing areas with remote controls that allow the operator to get a qualitative overview and a 30-zoom; eyeball cameras at the ground floor halls of residential buildings; video cameras in elevators; video cameras at the entrances of underground parking lots; general-purpose video cameras for monitoring the local area; and ANPR cameras that can recognize plate numbers of vehicles entering/leaving the area. In addition, Dahua VMS was chosen as the central platform for video surveillance and camera integration.
Benefits
Akademichesky District is now one of the safest areas with low crime rate in the Yekaterinburg City. It has 24/7 video surveillance of the whole area, including round-the-clock patrols of quick response teams in the neighborhoods, communication between the residents and security system operators, as well as access control to underground parking lots and residential buildings via barrier gates, intercoms and electromagnetic locks. Its effectiveness is confirmed annually by the official crime statistics in Akademichesky and other areas of the city.
The surveillance devices from Dahua Technology have proven to be a new fundamental approach for Yekaterinburg to ensure high level of security within the whole district. The order and cleanliness in elevators and public halls are proofs of the effectiveness of the surveillance devices deployed at entrances and ground floors. In addition, the capability of operators to track movements in the area allows parents to see whether their children are safe or not. Recorded videos can also serve as evidence in case of traffic accidents or hit-and-run incidents.
