On June 5, the whole world observed the 51st World Environment Day. This event organized by the United Nation encourages environmental awareness and urges each one of us to protect our natural surroundings. Dahua Technology, a world-leading video-centric smart IoT solution and service provider, has been actively engaged in developing intelligent solutions to help address prevailing environmental issues, including how to efficiently manage and protect water resources using digital intelligence.

Effective water management starts at home

As a role model, Dahua has established a strict water management system in accordance with relevant local laws, regulations and standards. The company actively adopts advanced water-saving technologies and equipment to reduce water consumption and increase the reuse rate of water resources. Relevant trainings are also available for employees in order to create awareness towards water conservation. In addition, waste water are also made sure to be discharged to the correct sweage system, with oil waste going to a separate municipal water pipe network for further treatment. The discharged water are annually checked and analyzed, and all indicators meet all relevant national standards.

Protecting water resources with digital intelligence

Over the past years, Dahua has also successfully implemented various breakthrough solutions to protect crucial water resources like lakes and water reservoirs. In China alone, more than 10,000 kilometers of river basins across the country has been protected and well managed using Dahua’s intelligent water management solutions.

Here are some notable highlights of Dahuas efforts in protecting our water resources using intelligent technologies:

1. Collect Accurate Water Data

Through intelligent videos and hyperspectral technology, Dahua has developed an intelligent solution that can accurately obtain key data such as real-time water level, water quality and rain conditions in rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water. It can detect floating objects on the water surface, drainage outlet and water color. What’s more, this solution can also recognize in real time suspended substances, pH value, and other elements in the water, providing scientific data for water assessment and management, helping to improve regulatory efficiency, and reducing environmental pollution in rivers and lakes.

2. Detect Illegal Water Activities

Thermal imaging, intelligent panoramic surveillance and other technical solutions are developed to monitor the water surface, sand areas, and shoreline. These solutions offer automatic monitoring and early warning when illegal sand mining or unauthorized fishing vessels is detected. It also provides 24/7 monitoring of illegal digging, construction, stacking and occupance in protected water zones, providing a means to quickly deter trespassers, illegal fishing, swimming without permit, and other illegal activities in the monitored areas. This then helps reduce work pressure on patrollers and assists in improving their risk prevention capabilities and patrolling efficiency.

3. Provide All-in-One Water Management Platform

Dahua has been continuously innovating to provide all necessary data – regarding the condition and status of monitored water resources – all in one integrated management platform. With this platform in place, operators can remotely check the condition of rivers, lakes, coastlines, and other protected water resources at anytime using real-time images, early-warning information, event situation, etc. This can help in their campaigns in water pollution prevention, water treatment, ecological restoration, etc., and can significantly contribute to the sustainable development of aquatic resources.

Dahua Technology constantly explores a new path of digital intelligence to help manage and protect our water resources and ecological environment. With its advocacy for sustainable development, Dahua will continue to adhere to its responsibility to protect the environment, promote green intelligent IoT, lead the innovative development of environmental protection, and other efforts toward green sustainability.
