Cybersecurity is easier to understand when you can put your knowledge to work. At the School of Cyber Defense Championship, university students from across the UAE got the chance to do just that: take on practical challenges, develop solutions and present their work to a jury of industry experts.

Organized by TechFirm as part of GISEC Global 2026, the championship took place at the Dubai Exhibition Centre on 18 September. Teams were asked to apply their technical knowledge to real-world cybersecurity problems and explain how their solutions worked. The format gave students a platform to test their ideas and demonstrate their capabilities beyond the classroom.

Dahua MENA supported the championship. Mr. David, General Manager, and Mr. Salah Badran, Senior Business Development Manager, represented Dahua Technology at the event, joining students, organizers and industry representatives.

Bringing students and industry professionals together can help connect academic learning with practical experience. Students get to work through challenges, present their thinking and engage with people from the technology sector. Events like this also create space for ideas to move between universities and industry.

That kind of experience matters in a field that keeps changing. Cybersecurity professionals need the technical knowledge to understand digital threats, along with the ability to assess problems and develop solutions. A student competition cannot replace professional experience, but it can give participants an opportunity to apply what they have learned and build confidence in their skills.

Dahua Technology supports initiatives that encourage young people to explore technology and take on practical challenges. Through its support of the School of Cyber Defense Championship, Dahua MENA contributed to a platform where students could learn by doing and engage with industry experts.

At GISEC 2026, cybersecurity learning moved beyond theory and into action, giving the next generation a chance to show what they can do.
