Dahua D-Volt Ultra Powers a Flexible and Scalable Fast-Charging Network in France
To meet growing EV charging demand across its sites in France, Dahua Technology partnered with MEA Energies to deploy D-Volt Ultra DC fast-charging stations. With two charging units installed at each site, the project established a standardized charging network designed to deliver high performance, operational flexibility, and future scalability.
Overview
MEA Energies is a French provider of electric vehicle charging infrastructure offering installation, operation, maintenance, supervision, payment, and technical support services for businesses, retailers, hotels, restaurants, property developers, residential communities, and public-sector organizations.
As demand for EV charging grew across its sites, the company needed a reliable and scalable fast-charging solution that could handle increasing traffic while remaining easy to deploy within existing electrical infrastructure.
Challenges
A key challenge was the limited electrical power available from the existing grid infrastructure at the project sites. Increasing grid capacity would have required additional construction work, resulting in significant costs and longer project lead times.
At the same time, high-traffic locations required charging infrastructure capable of serving vehicles quickly and efficiently. The solution therefore needed to balance available site power while supporting higher charging capacity in the future. MEA Energies also required an intuitive user experience, flexible payment options, centralized management, and capabilities that could simplify day-to-day operation.
Solutions
Dahua deployed its D-Volt Ultra DC fast-charging solution, available in power ratings of 60, 80, 120, 160, and 240 kW. With output of up to 240 kW, the stations meet fast-charging requirements while helping increase vehicle turnover. Compatible vehicles can reach up to 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.
In addition, D-Volt Ultra enables flexible energy management, allowing charging capacity to be adapted to the power currently available at each site instead of requiring immediate and costly grid upgrades. If additional grid capacity becomes available later, the installation can scale accordingly.
Each station features dual charging connectors with flexible power distribution, enabling available power to be allocated efficiently between charging sessions. Users can pay by bank card, mobile app, or charging card, while a 10.1-inch touchscreen provides simple and intuitive interaction.
For operators, support for OCPP enables connection to an operating platform for remote management. The stations also incorporate a built-in advertising display with remote content management, creating opportunities for additional commercial revenue.
Additional intelligent capabilities include support for license plate recognition integration, which can further automate charging management, as well as SOC and overall station status indicators for clear, at-a-glance operating information.
Beyond the product itself, leveraging Dahua’s robust global local-support capabilities, engineers from Dahua HQ R&D & Engineering team and Dahua France subsidiary provided full‑time support to the customer throughout project implementation, delivery and trial operation. They accompanied on-site equipment installation, commissioning and troubleshooting, delivering strong service assurance for MEA Energies.
Results
The adaptable D-Volt Ultra architecture enabled MEA Energies to proceed with deployment despite existing grid limitations, avoiding the immediate cost and delay associated with increasing available electrical capacity and helping keep the project on schedule. The resulting charging network combines high-power DC charging, flexible energy allocation, centralized management, multiple payment methods, and a user-friendly interface within one integrated solution. Its scalable design also gives MEA Energies the flexibility to expand charging capacity as site infrastructure and demand evolve.

Aside from charging services, Dahua charging piles leverage the company’s AIoT capabilities and integrate ANPR cameras to support vehicle management and security monitoring.
